Hair Donation Ottawa (HDO), presented by National Bank, is an annual fundraiser that raises funds for cutting-edge cancer research at CHEO, empowers kids with hair loss by providing them with free wigs and supports green initiatives championed by Green Circle Salons. We are excited to announce that the 10th anniversary of Hair Donation Ottawa taking place from September 1 - 30, 2020 will be a fully virtual fundraiser!

As life slowly begins to get back to our new normal, you can make your cut count by registering, donating your hair and making a real difference to local kids.

We’ve all witnessed what a pandemic can do... to your do! Whether you have the long locks necessary to make a wig or can donate your hair or beard trimmings, no hair goes to waste and you can make a difference in the lives of children and youth in your community.

  • Participants who raise at least $100 will receive a goodie bag, and there are exciting new prizes available at each fundraising level!
  • ALL lengths and colours of hair are accepted. Properly stored braids or ponytails of 12 inches or longer can be used to make wigs.
  • Shorter hair, even beard trimmings, can be gathered in a plastic bag and donated towards environmental efforts championed by Green Circle Salons. (Please note: We cannot accept dreadlocks, wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.)
  • We will direct all hair collected towards wigs or Green Circle Salons in this first ever DIY Hair Donation Ottawa.

This non-profit fundraiser was founded by a cancer survivor, Helene Hutchings, and is celebrating the 10th anniversary. Things may be different this year, but with the help of some amazing sponsors, dedicated volunteers and enthusiastic participants, this virtual event will celebrate courage and generosity while having a lot of fun along the way.
