Every year as we prepare for the annual CHEO Telethon on CTV, it is common to hear people say that Telethon weekend is their favorite weekend of the year. I happen to agree, and what always amazes me is the number of different reasons why people love the CHEO Telethon. Some are inspired by the touching, real-life stories that families share with the Telethon audience. Others enjoy hearing from front line CHEO/OCTC staff as they talk about the specialized equipment and programs they use to care for our children and youth. There are also people who feel comfort and optimism when they learn more about the incredible work being done at the CHEO Research Institute.
At the CHEO Foundation we are humbled that the CHEO Telethon continues to produce a huge groundswell of caring. Thanks to the thousands of people who look forward to it each year, and the thousands more who may tune in for the first time, the CHEO Telethon continues to make our children’s hospital and treatment centre stronger.
While their reasons for watching may be very different, all of these people have one thing in common….they all love kids. That common denominator unites so many people in the National Capital Region. They all believe that children and youth deserve the best health care available.
I invite you to watch, call and donate on June 10 and 11 during the 34th annual CHEO Telethon on CTV. If you’ve tuned in before, you already know how special this broadcast is for the families in our region. If it will be your first time, we truly hope it will become one of your favorite weekends of the year.
