On March 18th 2024 our hero closed his eyes for the last time
keeping Griff's legacy alive:
On October 16th 2018 our sweet, incredible Griff was diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, blind sided by this diagnosis he began his battle and our lives changed forever. After finishing front line treatment in March of 2019 he was declared to have no evidence of disease and spent a wonderful 2 years in remission. In March 2021 after a round of routine follow up scans, once again much to our surprise he was diagnosed with relapsed Neuroblastoma and began his final fight. On April 2022 + again in May of 2023 the disease showed progression. Our world collapsed on March 18th 2024 when his battle came to an end.
Griff was born 3 months premature + first began his fight against cancer when he was 16 months old. He is the true definition of a superhero. This endowment fund is an effort to keep his legacy alive by giving into underfunded research + The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario so they can continue to provide the best care for their cancer patients. We hope that we can play a small role in changing the future of childhood cancer + other kiddos like Griff will be able to have access to less invasive, more targeted forms of treatment so no child's life will be cut short because of this awful disease. To know Griff is to love him, he touched lives of people he had never met. His story is a story of love, heroism and hope, he lived every day out of his short almost 7 years as if they we the best days of his life. He taught those around him to live life to the fullest and to turn moments into golden memories.
There is a need for more research so kids like Griff can have a fighting chance. Currently only 7% of funds raised for cancer research is given to childhood cancer. These kids need more, we owe them more and that's what we plan to do.
Forever in our hearts, our golden boy
