**UPDATE February 3rd 2020: Thanks to everyone who made this such a fantastic fundraiser. Phinn was cleared from CHEO after 6 days, and has been at home with Kelly and I ever since. We've got a lot of follow up appointments, and surgery is still very much in the picture, but until then we are enjoying each other as a new family.**

On January 10th 2020 my wife Kelly and I welcomed our daughter Delphine Heather Duff (aka "Phinn") into the world. Though she's only been around a short time, she's captivated our hearts in a way we could never have imagined, we are truly blessed

Unfortunately, during the final weeks of my wife's pregnancy, we were informed that a cyst-like structure had been identified in our daughter's brain, one which could lead to a host of negative outcomes and would likely require swift surgical intervention.

Directly following her birth Phinn was assessed by the team at the Ottawa Hospital, then dispatched to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Ontario) for specialised assessment and monitoring. Thankfully she has been stable throughout the process, and no emergency measures have been required.

It's been a difficult month for our small family, but we have been astonished and humbled by the quality of care and compassion Phinn has received during her stay at the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at CHEO. All of the nurses, physicians, and support staff have done their best to alleviate much of the burden that stems from having a child hospitalised.

In support of CHEO, and in partnership with GOV (Gay Ottawa Volleyball) League, I will be running a Volleyball Skills & Drills Camp January 26th from 11am to 4pm with ALL PROCEEDS collected being donated to the CHEO foundation (https://cheofoundation.com). In addition to ticket sales and donations collected at the physical camp, I have set up a donations page through the CHEO foundation web portal to allow people from all around the world to participate.

I am proud to be able to use my time to give back to the hospital that has given my daughter, my wife, and so many other families throughout Ontario so much. I encourage you to join the cause, whether it be with CHEO or another Children's hospital in your area, and help ensure that children continue to get the care they deserve!
