Support Me

Tait James Nicoll Gofton

October 21, 2004 – November 15, 2019

Tait peacefully passed away, in his sleep, with his Mum (Emma Gofton), Dad (Wade Gofton) and big sister (Aislinn Gofton) beside him.   In his 15 years he was faced with many challenges, all of which he approached with a positivity, courage and wisdom beyond his years.

He had bright infectious smile and the desire to know, love and help others.   He drew you in, allowing you to see past the wheelchair and communication challenges to see the genuine, loving young man he was.  He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, ‘girlfriends’, and all those who had the opportunity to know him.  Tait believed “Life is Beautiful” and wanted everyone to celebrate ‘life and love’, and to laugh and smile as we recall the special moments we shared with him.

Tait’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have been there for him in so many different ways - family, friends, caregivers, support workers, nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers and so many more. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to CHEO Complex Care and the entire Roger Neilson House/Palliative Care Team who have been there every step of the way, supporting Tait and his family.  His RNH team/family provided Tait with the support needed to come to terms with his fate, to live for each day, and to have the confidence to make his own decisions about how he wanted to LIVE  his life.

Thank you for honouring his legacy and supporting Roger Neilson House.  It is our 'second home'; it's people our 'second family'.

With Deepest Gratitude,

Emma, Wade and Aislinn
