There is something for everyone at the RBC Race for the Kids. Whether you are running, walking or cheering, there will be plenty of music, activities and food to be enjoyed.

Corrals & Wave Starts

There will be wave starts in the 2K, 5K and 10K events.

Wave starts help ensure a safe start to each race by staggering participant’s start times. Participants of similar speed are organized by “corrals,” which helps assist in moving everyone into the race gradually.

Runners will be sent off in a series of waves starting with the green corral, followed by orange and red corrals. Each wave will be sent off minutes apart. As a wave is sent off, the next one will be brought forward to the start line and directed to wait until given the signal to start. This process will continue until all corrals have left.

For the 5K and 10K timed events, no matter which wave you are in, you will get your accurate race time because of the “timing chips” that are embedded into your bib.

Participants are asked to choose the coloured corral that best fits their expected finish time.

Bag Check

The Bag Check Tent is located just past the entrance to the event site. This is a free service provided to all runners.

Drop off your bag, stroller or other belongings at the Bag Check Tent that you do not want to run/walk with. Use the baggage tag attached to your bib to check your belongings. You will need to show your bib number to pick up checked baggage after the race. The Bag Check Tent is supervised at all times.

Enjoy many free activities for the entire family at the RBC Family Fun Zone!

Keeping it Green

As part of RBC’s longstanding focus on environmental sustainability, RBC is committed to reducing the environmental impacts of all RBC Race for the Kids events.

Here are some of the ways we are keeping it green.

• Water bottle refill stations
• Recycling and compost collection
• Green Team volunteers to maximize recycling efforts
• Minimal food waste by donating any extra food
• Sustainable transportation is encouraged

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the top five best times in each of the 5K and 10K timed events.

10K Prizes will be awarded at 9:20am, before the start of the 2K Family Fun Run.
5K prizes will be awarded at 11:00am from the main stage.
